Demanding Equality and Justice for Everyone
A recent article by slate.com underlines the fact that women sexually assault men much more often than we’re led to believe.
For example, of juveniles reporting staff sexual misconduct, 89 percent were boys reporting abuse by a female staff member.
And these are just the reported incidents even though men are discouraged from reporting by public campaigns such as the sexist and bigoted kind the Halifax Police Department is doing.
If they’d start addressing male victims and female perpetrators we’d quickly see equal numbers of reports.
And a bonus early Easter poster hunt for those who want to censor opposing views.
Canada only finances DV shelters for women, refusing service to 49.3% of the victims of domestic violence (men).
But its okay, because men are the minority (by 0.7%) and Canada has a public policy of refusing service to minorities.
Halifax is breaking Canadian and international law by discriminating according to gender with its hateful one-sided poster campaign and then threaten legal actions to silence dissenters.
A recent gender-swap parody of Halifax Police Dept. misandristic “Don’t be that guy” poster campaign has been posted around another bigoted man-shaming event also sponsored by tax funds: Jackson Katz to Speak in Halifax in a public school.
We respect free speech, everyone is free to speak in public spaces, and unlike feminists at the University of Toronto we do not block doors preventing people to attend venues nor pull fire alarms, but we do not support public funds going into financing bigotry and sexism and will speak agains it, expose it,
We respect all the hard working police officers, men and women, who had no say in whether or not the official posters got approved by municipal management. And we ask that everyone understand this: the police staff of Halifax, on the street, working their arse off, putting their lives on the line, aren’t responsible for the management’s disapointing decisions to support a campaign slandering all men as potential rapist who needs to be reminded not to rape.
Don’t be that bigot.
Why is the government ignoring this in its policies?
The DHHS data shows that of children abused by one parent between 2001 and 2006, 70.6% were abused by their mothers, whereas only 29.4% were abused by their fathers.
And of children who died at the hands of one parent between 2001 and 2006, 70.8% were killed by their mothers, whereas only 29.2% were killed by their fathers.
Furthermore, contrary to media portrayals that leave the viewer with the impression that only girls are ever harmed, boys constituted fully 60% of child fatalities. (Table 4-3, p. 71, Child Maltreatment 2006, http://www.acf.hhs.gov/programs/cb/pubs/cm06/cm06.pdf, reports that 675 boys died in 2006 as compared to 454 girls).
Even though over 250 studies and even Statistics Canada have demonstrated that Domestic Violence has as many female perpetrators as male perpetrators and as many male victims as female victims, that it is not a gendered issue, Nova Scotia offers no help to male victims, nor therapy to violent female offenders.
Domestic Violence is not gendered:
Thank you Saturday Night Live for giving even more visibility to the men’s rights movement.
It was a clumsy, boring, unfunny, inconsistent, completely false, embarrassing for SNL, double face-palm worthy train wreck of a skit but hey, who can say no to free publicity on American national television!
But next time SNL, try to remember that a caricature is supposed to be an exaggeration, not a completely made up strawman. For the record, the MHRM is neither pro-choice nor pro-life, it is not a men’s issue. We do not advocate removing reproductive rights, we demand equal reproductive rights to be given to men, such as legal parental surrender.
I’m so glad they are concerned with all victims, without discriminations.
Craig Jaret Hutchinson of Nova Scotia, who pierced his condoms to get his girlfriend pregnant, has been sent to jail for 18 months after supreme court appeal.
When women deceive men by lying about the pill, about having an IUD or removing it, or by piercing condoms, not only do they NOT get jail time, they get rewarded with money from the government, and the man is still held financially responsible for the resulting baby and possibly the mother as well. You try and tell me this isn’t a clear double standard.
What he did was wrong, clearly, but this is not justice so long as women are not held to the same consequences for conception by deception.
